If you want bi-directional, UDP wouldn't be the best option.\
Better to do a Virtual Serial Tunnel.

Essentially, for a 1 port to 1 port, the only way to do this is:

Serial Equipment -> (serial cable) -> Serial Port of Device Master This device Master would be configured
to connect to the distant DeviceMaster via Serial Tunnel.

On both DeviceMasters, the Port configuration would have Enable TCP connection and Listen checkmarked
On Port for both DeviceMasters would have 8000
Connect to IP Address would have the IP Address of the other DeviceMaster. Do this for only ONE DeviceMaster.
The other one, leave blank.
Connect 'Always' should be checkmarked.

The remote Device Master will take the serial connection via TCP/IP and make it available via the Physical Serial Port.

Note- When doing this configuration, you will NOT be able to use Com Port or Socket Connections to this port. You will have to connect the data via the serial cable. The reason for this is the TCP Connection (Applies to UDP as well) ties up the port and is unavailable for other purposes.

See this document for more details.

The ideal configuration is to use a DeviceMaster 2 port or greater, use Com Port or Socket Connection for port 1, then use a null modem cable to connect physical serial port 1 to serial port 2. Then you can set up your Serial Tunnel on port 2 going to port 2 of the remote DeviceMaster.
